BOKO HARAM OR JONA HARAM

When the book haram sect crisis broke out in 2009, the media was awash with diverse analysis talking about the crisis and its impact on the nation. However, it is pertinent to note that this analysis have been shallow and biased.

For every terror attack, the president has a standard photocopy response “yes we are doing something about it, don’t worry we are on top of it”.
In April 1st last year, soon after the election, the president set up a committee, a panel to investigate the book haram in the north east, the committee submitted a report, it took the federal government over seven months, to produce a white paper on such a fundamental issue, yet NJC (Nigeria Judicial commission) recommended the removal of Salami on a Friday, by Sunday the government has already acted on it, that was very suspicious!

Then after the bombing of the UN building in Abuja, Jonathan told Nigerians “we know sponsors of terror in our land, we will soon get them”. Since then no suspect has been brought to book. In fact, the only suspect that was arrested as been a sponsor was senator Ndumu, a PDP senator. That senator swore an affidavit in court saying “yes I have some links with boko haram but the vice president is aware of what am doing with boko haram”.  They granted him bail, since then nothing has happened!
After the bombing of the UN building, they said they were looking for one nor, that was supposed to be the mastermind of the attack. That was as far as they went, since then have u heard of Nor?? Of course NO!!
Kabiru sokoto escaped from police custody, since then have u heard of anything about him. Of course NO!!

We have a case in bauchi state where a church was bombed, and one of the suspect was arrested and they found the state security service (SSS) identity card on him. No tangible report of this trial has been heard since then.

The former national security adviser to the president, general Azazi went to a south-south economic summit in asaba, delta state and he said “it was the policy of the PDP that caused incessant bombings in the country”. The only thing the president could tell Nigerians was that they should ask Azazi to make himself clear.

All this leads to one conclusion---------à we have a president who is playing politics with the security of the country. It is unfortunate that the president appears rather stable and comfortable playing politics with the lives of Nigerians especially Muslims.
Precious lives are being lost daily and our president has become mourner -in –chief rather than commander in chief.
All the information and statistics used in this write up was culled from “THE NATION NEWSPAPER, SUNDAY, MAY 27, 2012 and also from other newspaper articles on Boko Haram..
